ENTRY INFORMATION

The Icelandic Sports Association for the disable has the pleasure to invite all federation and clubs to take part in Icelandic Open 2006.

The Organising committee will do all possible efforts to receive the swimmers and staff of your federation/club in the best possible way.

 

Propotions:             

Icelandic Open is held in a new 50 m pool in Laugardalur in the capital of

Iceland, Reykjavík.

The compition is held in a 50 m pool with 8 lanes and a water teperature of 27.5°.  Furthermore the compitition is held with “electronic timing system (OMEGA) and complete lane result screen”.

 

The compitition is open for swimmers who are physically disabled, deaf, blind or have learning disability.

 

The event will be run under IPC ruling. 

 

There are no limit times and classes S1-S14 are offered.  Seeding according to entry times and independent of clissification.

Relays:          

The relays are an open competition and the teams can be comprised of swimmers from all 14 classes without any limitations according to total numbers of points.

 

Multi-disability finals:

The participating swimmers in the multi-disability finals will be found by comparing the achieved times from the preliminary event with world records (expressed in percentages) will participate in the multy-disability finals.

 

Warm-up:

All participating swimmers and coaches are requested to follow the the warm-up procedure in order to ensure a save and high quality warm-up for all participating swimmers.

Results:         

Results will be presented at the pool during the compitition.  The results will also be

available on http://www.isisport.is/if/if_asp/sund.asp where results are updated after each session.

 

Awards:         

Athletes are diveded in to each heat according to their times, not their disability.

Medals will be awarded for each class in each event.

 

Call-up area: 

There will be no call room in connection with the compitition.  Swimmers ar

requested to show behind the blocks two or three heats before start.  Each swimmers

will get a basket  where they can put heir clothes, shoes and personal belongings.

Once the swimmers have started the race the basket will be carried away from the

start zone and placed at the entrances to changing rooms.

 

Doping control:

According  to the “The world anti –doping code” doping control can

be announced during the compitition.

 

Medical:        

Medical staff is available at the pool during the compitition.

The quality of the water in “Laugardalslaug” is very high.  With your help the quality should stay that way.  Therefore you have to respect the rules considering showering:

 

CYou have to shower naked before you go into the pool

CAfter using the toilets you havet to shower naked

CYou are allowed to warm up by the pool, afterwards you must go to the changing rooms to shower naked.

 

CIt is the responsibility of the coach and the team manager to make sure that the regulations are followed.  If the regulations are not followed it will cause expulsion from “Laugardalslaug”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Travel information:

When travelling to Iceland by planes there is only one airport, Keflavík airport.

The Icelandic Flight companies are two, Icelandair and Iceland express.

 

Keflavík airport is within 40 minutes driving from the capital city of Iceland, Reykjavík.  The organizing committee can assist in finding transportation.
